The Boston Bruins are picking fast and furious now. With the 192nd overall pick, the Bruins selected Jake Schmaltz, a forward from the USHL’s Chicago Steel. Schmaltz is committed to the University of North Dakota and is expected to start his college career in September of 2020. Schmaltz is expected to return to the Steel for the 2019-20 campaign.

In 60 games with the Steel in 2018-19, Jake Schmaltz scored five goals and added 13 assists for a modest 18 points. He added two assists in eleven playoff tilts for the Steel. Schmaltz stands in at 6’1″ and 165 pounds.

This selection concludes the Bruins 2019 Entry Draft. In all, the club selected five players. Don Sweeney and his staff will now turn their attention to free agency, which officially gets underway tomorrow with the start of the UFA legal tampering period. The NHL’s 2019-20 salary cap is expected to be made official later today, which could open up the trade action.
