Bruins Select Matias Mantykivi 185th overall

The Boston Bruins have selected Finnish center Matias Mantykivi with the 185th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The 18 year-old center stands in at 5’11” and 159 pounds according to EliteProspects. He played for four separate teams over the course of the 2018-19 season.

Matias Mantykivi played 34 games for the U20 team in the SaiPa organization. He scored 12 goals and added 24 assists for 36 points. He also appeared in nine games for the U18 outfit, scoring seven goals and adding nine assists for 16 points in nine games. Mantykivi eventually played in the Liiga late in the season, dressing in six games for SaiPa and scoring a single goal.

Lastly, he was loaned to Kettera of the Mestis, where he played in eleven games. He registered four assists for Kettera.

Lightweight centre-wing with good understanding of tempo and pace, and has a nice compete level. His feet and size limit his present attractiveness.
