Bruins Brief: Assessing the Damage; Leafs Tip Hand Ahead of NHL Trade Deadline

Good morning, my name is Andrew Fantucchio. It’s Tuesday, January 14, and here are the top stories, news items, and highlights surrounding the Boston Bruins and from across the NHL today.
Bruins News:
Assessing The Damage: The Bruins put an end to their six-game losing streak over the weekend. But even though the streak is over, it left lasting damage to Boston’s playoff hopes, which will be felt for the rest of the season.
Practice Report: Vinni Lettieri was on the ice at Warrior Ice Arena on Monday. Mark Kastelic was not. Check out yesterday’s Bruins practice report.
Leafs Tip Hand Ahead of Trade Deadline:
Most general managers like to keep their intentions ahead of the NHL trade deadline close to the vest, but not Brad Treliving.
With the Maple Leafs already well-positioned to make the postseason, centers will be the top target for Toronto on the trade market over the next few weeks.
A pivot for the third line looks especially enticing to Treliving as of now. The Bruins are still rumored to be shopping Trent Frederic and are in desperate need of scoring. Perhaps there’s a path to a rare inter-division trade between the Bruins and Maple Leafs.
Yesterday’s Scoreboard:
Flyers: 4, Panthers: 3
Flames: 5, Blackhawks: 2
Oilers: 1, Kings: 0

Philadelphia: The Philadelphia Flyers announced plans to build a new home, set to be completed in 2031.
Pittsburgh: Check out the jerk who stole a puck from a kid at a Pittsburgh Penguins game.
Colorado: Casey Mittelstadt’s recent scoring slump is becoming a major concern for the Colorado Avalanche.
