The trade winds have started to swirl in the National Hockey League. With Toronto and Pittsburgh getting in on the action, Nashville decided the time was right for an upgrade. The Nashville Predators acquired Brian Boyle from the New Jersey Devils for a 2019 2nd round pick.

NHL Trade Alert: Brian Boyle Acquired by Nashville

This was a great move by the Predators. Boyle is a good addition to the Predators. Not only will he add size, but skill. In addition, Boyle will bring his veteran leadership skills to a team that has high hopes of winning a Stanley Cup. In terms of his leadership skills, Boyle knows what it takes to win in this league. Though his previous teams did not win a Stanley Cup, Boyle had back to back Stanley Cup Final appearances in 2014 with the New York. Rangers, and 2015 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In 47 games with the New Jersey Devils, Boyle has 13 goals and 19 points. Not only does he bring everything previously mentioned, but Boyle is a fan favorite around the league.

Soon after the Boyle trade, the Predators announced another trade. Nashville reacquired Cody McLeod from the New York Rangers for a 2020 7th round pick.

McLeod is another player that brings size and skill to the Predators. Both players will be great additions to the bottom six for Nashville given the absence of Austin Watson in the lineup.

Given how the Predators were pushed around by Winnipeg last year in the playoffs, Nashville felt size and grit was important in these two deals. With Vegas having Ryan Reaves and Winnipeg having Dustin Byfuglien, Boyle and McLeod will match up perfectly against these players.

Stay Tuned for more trade news as it happens.
