Another August weekend is coming to a close, which means we are slowly creeping towards training camp. Saturday didn’t feature a ton of news, but did see a key college free agent sign in Carolina. Chase Priskie has begun his professional career, agreeing to a deal with the Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon. More on that in a moment. Here are the top stories on Sunday, August 18th.

The Carolina Hurricanes made a big splash on Saturday morning when they agreed to a contract with NCAA free agent Chase Priskie. The former Capitals draft choice became a free agent earlier in the week when he failed to sign an entry-level deal with Washington. (Canes Country)

The Buffalo Sabres have discussed multiple trade scenarios involving D Rasmus Ristolainen. Although a trade is the preferred route for both sides, the Sabres have kept Ristolainen in their plans just in case a deal can’t be reached. (NHL.com)

When will the NHL return to the Olympics? The league isn’t worried about 2022, but does have an eye towards the 2020 China games. Could hockey move to the summer Olympics? (Yahoo!)

Detroit Red Wings F Evgeni Svechnikov continues to rehab an injury while he fights to make the NHL. The former first round pick is working hard to crack the Wings lineup on a full-time basis. (The Detroit News)
