The final days of July are ticking away, meaning we are halfway through the only two months of the year without hockey. Believe it or not, we are about seven weeks away from training camps opening up around the league. It will be here before you know it. The news cycle continued to churn on Friday as Nazem Kadri officially switched his number and the Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Harvard D John Marino. Here is the latest from around the NHL on Saturday, July 27th.

The Edmonton Oilers made a trade for the second straight Friday, although this one didn’t grab the headlines like last week’s blockbuster with the Calgary Flames. Edmonton shipped unsigned NCAA D John Marino to Pittsburgh in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in 2021. (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

Nazem Kadri wore No. 43 with the Toronto Maple Leafs. After his trade to Colorado on July 1, Kadri will wear number 91 for the Avalanche in 2019-20. (Sportsnet)

Who will break out in 2019-20? Which established stars will rebound after a down season or two? Those are some of the questions being asked in every market as fans try to determine who is a strong candidate to breakout or rebound. Ryan Lambert of Yahoo Sports looks at the top candidates for each. (Yahoo!)

Garret Sparks was dealt from Toronto to Vegas as part of the David Clarkson trade earlier this week. The exit from Toronto was “emotionally taxing” for the young netminder. He opened up about his exit from the organization that both drafted and developed him. (Sportsnet)
