Murphy: Extension Or Not, Bruins Need To Keep Torey Krug This Season (BHN+)

Published

on

The Boston Bruins need to keep star defenseman Torey Krug for this upcoming season, regardless if he signs an extension preventing him from walking as an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2020. The veteran core is aging and the Bruins should take what could be their last good shot at the Stanley Cup for at least a few years. And that includes Krug.

BNH reported Saturday there has been minimal trade chatter surrounding Krug. Recently BHN had conversations with two more NHL sources which essentially confirmed the “unique opportunity” has not been presented to Sweeney.

There now seems to be a growing feeling around the team and the NHL that Sweeney is attempting to sign his restricted free agents Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo, but also extend Krug.

It’s the right call.
