As reported on Boston Hockey Now yesterday, there has been some trade interest in Boston Bruins forward David Backes and one of the teams that have expressed interest was the New Jersey Devils. Per his modified no-trade clause, Backes can submit a list of eight teams he will allow a trade to and Bruins general manager Don Sweeney asked for and received an updated version of that list within 48 hours the Bruins’ loss to the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. What’s not publicly known at this time is what teams were on the list and if the Devils were one of the eight teams to which Backes will approve a trade.

Following our report Sunday, BHN spoke with additional sources close to the situation.
