Seattle Kraken Select Jeremy Lauzon From Bruins
A Boston Bruins team source has confirmed multiple reports that the Seattle Kraken have selected defenseman Jeremy Lauzon from the Bruins’ NHL Expansion Draft list of available players.
Sportsnet NHL Insider Chris Johnston was the first to report that the Bruins had lost Lauzon to the Seattle Kraken. Shortly after that, Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff also reported Lauzon to Seattle, citing former Providence Bruins head coach and now Seattle Kraken Assistant Coach Jay Leach playing a role in the decision to select Lauzon. After the Bruins selected Lauzon in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft (52nd overall), Leach coached him for parts of three seasons in Providence before Lauzon found a permanent home on the Bruins’ blue line this past season.
The #SeaKraken are clearly prioritizing defencemen with these expansion selections. They have their sights set on Jeremy Lauzon in Boston.

Curious to see who #SeaKraken wanted from the multitude of blueliners available from Boston with new assistant coach Jay Leach's insight.
Sounds like the pick from #NHLBruins will be Jeremy Lauzon.@DFOHockey

Lauzon played 41 games in the 2021 season and finished with a goal and seven assists. He did not register a point in seven games during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. After blocking a shot by Washington Capitals defenseman Justin Schultz in Game 1 of the first round, Lauzon missed the remaining four games of the series that the Boston Bruins won in five games. The 24-year-old, six-foot-one, 204-pound rearguard also missed four weeks of the regular season after fracturing his left hand blocking a shot in the Bruins’ 7-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Lake Tahoe on Feb. 21. With the Seattle Kraken selecting Lauzon on Wednesday, the rugged defenseman finished his Bruins career with three goals and eight assists in 76 games
This is the second straight time that the Bruins have lost a defenseman in the NHL Expansion Draft. The Vegas Golden Knights selected Colin Miller back in 2017.
Lauzon wasn’t the only physical defenseman to join the inaugural roster for the Seattle Kraken as the NHL’s newest team signed defensemen Adam Larsson to a four-year, $16 million contract. They then locked up a rumored UFA target of the Bruins in 6-foot-7, 255-pound, 28-year-old rearguard Jamie Oleksiak.
