NESN Hires Sophia Jurksztowicz As New Bruins Rinkside Reporter

NESN has hired Sophia Jurksztowicz (Yurk-shto-vitch) as their new Boston Bruins rinkside reporter for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Sophia entered the sports industry back in 2007 and has worked for various sports broadcasting companies in Canada including theScore, Rogers Sportsnet, CBC News Network, and Hockey Night in Canada. This past hockey season, Sophia had a featured story segment on the Hockey Night in Canada podcast with Rob Pizzo.

“We’re very excited to have Sophia join NESN,” Rick Jaffe, VP of Programming & Production said in a press release. “She brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and understanding of the game to our broadcasts.”

Not only did Sophia have features on the Hockey Night in Canada Podcast, but she hosted several NHLPA’s special events featuring NHL players in collaboration with other NHLPA partner brands.

Throughout her time in the industry, she has served as a sports reporter and has performed live in-studio updates as well as in the field reporting covering the NHL, NBA, and MLB. Most recently, she served as a reporter for CBC’s national coverage in Canda for the FINA World Aquatics Championships in South Korea. Prior to that, she was a sports reporter for CITY-TV as well as a host for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m, and 11 p.m. news. And before that at theScore Television Network, she was a sports reporter covering the Toronto Maple Leafs in the field as well as in the studio.

Sophia will begin working for NESN on Monday, August 26th.
