BHN Puck Links: Boston Bruins Bergeron Suffers Another Busted Nose

Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron has played in the NHL for 18 years, logged 1,164 regular season games and counting and has never shied away from playing hard each and every shift that he’s out on the ice. So, it’s not surprising that there have been bumps and bruises along the way, and more than a handful of broken noses for the four-time Selke Trophy winner.

The latest busted nose took place in last week’s win over the Nashville Predators when Filip Forsberg hammered Bergeron with a high hit that the Boston Bruins center took major umbrage with after the fact.

Bergeron missed Monday’s practice while having his nose reset by doctors and was sporting a full face shield on Tuesday morning that he’ll have to wear for at least the next couple of weeks.

“Oh man. It’s a good six, seven times [it’s been broken] probably. It’s been going on for a while. I knew we needed to do it. It’s more for breathing purposes than anything else,” said Patrice Bergeron ahead of the Boston Bruins flying to Vancouver. “I think the modeling career is over by now anyway, so that wasn’t the reason why. Because we had a few days [between games] it was a good time to do it. I’ll need to wear [the face shield] for a few weeks.”

Certainly, there’s plenty of Boston Bruins fans that think the modeling career is just getting going for No. 37, but it would be nice if his teammates work a little harder to discourage those kinds of nose-breaking hits on their 36-year-old captain.
