Update: Pastrnak, Kase Still In Quarantine, Miss First Day Of Bruins Camp

Boston Bruins superstar winger David Pastrnak and fellow Czech winger Ondrej Kase were not on the ice for the first day of Phase 3 and training camp Monday morning. Thankfully, their absence was not due to positive COVID19 tests but rather the completion of their international travel quarantine requirements.

In a Zoom call with the media on Sunday, Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney warned that the Bruins wouldn’t have all their players for the start of camp due to international travel quarantine requirements. So thankfully, for now, that was indeed the reason Pastrnak, the co-Art Ross Trophy winner and Kase were absent. Remember, Kase – whom the Bruins acquired just prior to the 202 NHL Trade Deadline – has played just six games with the Bruins.

Rookie forward Karson Kuhlman skated in place of Pastrnak on the right wing with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. Anders Bjork jumped into the right wing slot on the second line with David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk; Charlie Coyle centered Nick Ritchie and Sean Kuraly on the third line and Par Lindholm was between Joakim Nordstrom and Chris Wagner.

On defense, the top four pairings of Zdeno Chara-Charlie McAvoy and Torey Krug-Brandon Carlo were back together and it appears Jeremy Lauzon will indeed get a strong look to crack the top six for the playoffs as he was paired with Matt Grzelcyk.

Tuukka Rask and Jaro Halak were both between the pipes with Max Legace serving as the third goaltender.

Paul Carey, Jack Studnicka, and Zach Senyshyn were the forward reserves skating, and John Moore, Connor Clifton and Jakub Zboril were the extras on the blue line.
