Bruins Video: “It’s Fun To Play With Smart Guys”

Boston Bruins forward David Krejci missed the last two games with an upper-body injury. He was deemed a game-time decision heading into Tuesday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights. Luckily for the Bruins, Krejci was able to go. The veteran center made an impact in his first game back in the lineup.

Krejci knocked down a Brandon Carlo shot from the point and then banged home the loose puck late in the third period to put the Bruins ahead for good on Tuesday night. It was his 12th goal of the season, a vitally important one.

“It was just another game, obviously wanted to get a win before the break,” Krejci told reporters in the Bruins locker room postgame. “We can enjoy [the break] a little bit more now.”

Krejci played 8:45 at five-on-five, per Natural Stat Trick, and had two new linemates on Tuesday. Krejci usually skates with Jake DeBrusk and, recently, Anders Bjork. On Tuesday he was flanked by Danton Heinen and Karson Kuhlman.

“They’re very smart,” Krejci said of his new wingers. “It’s fun to play with smart guys, who make plays. It doesn’t work all the time but the effort is there, so overall I thought, it can always be better but overall I thought it was a good game.”

The line outshot Vegas 10-4 when on the ice. They also held a 10-6 advantage in the Corsi battle.

“I feel like all three of us are pretty smart on that line and we’ve played together before. We know what to expect from each other,” Krejci continued. “It worked when it mattered tonight.”
