BHN Puck Links: Team USA Set To Have Distinctive Boston Bruins Feel?

Published

on

With the Winter Olympics quickly approaching, the time is coming to think about NHL players, and Boston Bruins players more specifically, that will participate provided the COVID situation looks doable from an NHL and NHLPA standpoint. As it is right now, the NHL players are still participating and we’re beginning to get early roster projections like this one from USA Today that has both Charlie McAvoy and former Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug suiting up for Team USA.

That would be a pretty sweet assignment for Krug, who was consistently passed over by USA Hockey as an undersized defenseman during his formative years playing hockey. Either way there should be more where this came from with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand virtual locks for Team Canada, David Pastrnak the same for the Czech Republic and perhaps Tuukka Rask still with an outside chance for Team Finland.

Either way, here’s the rest of the BHN Puck Links for your perusal:

*The idea of the Boston Bruins trading Patrice Bergeron is pretty unthinkable, but Mike Milbury went on WEEI on Thursday morning and said it’s time for the Bruins to do just that. I definitely beg to differ. (Boston Hockey Now)

*The Washington Capitals are mired in COVID protocols right now, so here’s a look at where they currently stand on Thursday. (Washington Hockey Now)

*Despite the NY Islanders being the butt of NHL jokes right now, insiders around the league still see Lou Lamoriello making moves to try and bring them back to life. (NYI Hockey Now)

*Our buddy Rob Simpson has his takeaways from last night’s 2-1 shootout win for the Canucks over the Bruins at the start of Boston’s three-game Western Canada swing. (Vancouver Hockey Now)

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Jeff Marek has his list of 25 trade targets way ahead of the trade deadline and, surprise, surprise, Jake DeBrusk is right in the middle of it all. Marek thinks that DeBrusk is going to pile up goals once he’s dealt to a new location. I’m not quite so convinced. (Sportsnet)

*The rampant abuse of the New York Islanders continues as CM Punk went in hard after the Isles during his AEW spot last night.

*Let’s be honest about the Arizona Coyotes. They continue to be a money-sucking embarrassment for the NHL and it’s time to move them somewhere else. (Pucks With Haggs)

*Fantastic breakdown of the Brendan Lemieux/Matthew Tkachuk biting incident from last week.

*For something completely different: Jack Black has announced that he’s not in the next Spider-Man movie. Thank God he killed that suspense. (We Got This Covered)
