Game 34: Boston Bruins Vs. Flyers Lines, Preview

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins (19-10-5, 43 pts, .632 points percentage) preparation for the biggest two-game set of the season encapsulated the 2021 NHL season for every team. On Monday morning they found out that they would be getting winger Jake DeBrusk back from the NHL COVID Protocol List but then found out that goalie Jaro Halak was taking his spot after testing positive.

While rookie goalie Dan Vladar was already scheduled to start tonight, there’s a very solid chance that the Bruins will have to start fellow rookie netminder Jeremy Swayman tomorrow night after he backs up Vladar tonight. This sudden and drastic change to the dynamic of the Bruins comes as they begin a home and home with the Philadelphia Flyers (17-14-5, 39 pts, .542 points percentage) and the Flyers trying to draw even in points with the Bruins for the final playoff spot in the East. Boston Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed that goalie Tuukka Rask will join the team on their upcoming three-game road trip but he will not start in either game against the Flyers.

Bruins Notes

–Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo has been downgraded from day-to-day to week-to-week with his upper-body injury and isn’t expected to return to game action for the Boston Bruins anytime soon. Carlo had just returned on March 30, from a month-long absence due to a concussion suffered after a Tom Wilson headshot and the fear is that his current upper-body injury is in some way connected to that injury.
