NHL Training Camps are back in earnest and with that, the news cycle is picking up as well. Here’s some Boston Bruins news and some links from around the league:

The Minnesota Wild signed defenseman Jared Spurgeon to a seven-year contract extension worth $53.025 million. The new deal will carry an annual cap hit of $7.575. (The Athletic)

Washington Capitals forward Evgeni Kuznetsov has been suspended three games by the NHL for inappropriate conduct. This stemmed from a four-year ban on Kuznetsov by the IIHF after the Russian tested positive for cocaine use back in May at the World Championships. (

One man that has put drug use behind him and travels the country now to offer help in fighting addiction is former Bruin and two-time Stanley Cup champion Kevin Stevens. A documentary on Stevens’ addiction battle was screened recently and got raving reviews. (Bill Brett)
