NHL Trade Rumors: More Bruins-Chychrun Updates, B’s Eyeing Miller Too

The Boston Bruins continue to be linked to Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun, who remains the hottest name on the NHL trade market.

There have also been reports that the Bruins are exploring what the cost for Vancouver Canucks center J.T. Miller would be on the NHL Trade market.

Let’s start with NHL trade rumors surrounding the B’s and Chychrun, the 23-year-old 2016 first round pick (16th overall), that they’ve been linked to for awhile now. On the latest TSN Insider Trading Tuesday, TSN Insider Darren Dreger said the Bruins remain part of a quintet of NHL teams that maintain a ‘strong interest’ in Chychrun on the NHL trade market.

“Now, sources say that the list of teams with a strong interest in Chychrun includes L.A., Florida, Boston, Anaheim, and the St. Louis Blues,” Dreger said on TSN NHL Insider Trading Tuesday night. “Now, Bill Armstrong obviously has time on his side, so he is going to let this marinate a little bit more unless he gets the four components that are needed.”

According to Dreger, one of the Bruins’ chief archrivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs may also jump into the Chychrun NHL trade sweepstakes.

“Well look, Chychrun has term left on his contract and I can tell you, the Toronto Maple Leafs are among many teams who have at least kicked tires on Chychrun, but you look at the Toronto Maple Leafs’ roster, how they move forward, it seems like a tough fit for the Maple Leafs to try and maneuver unless Kyle Dubas gets extraordinarily creative,” Dreger added.

Chychrun has two goals and eight points this season while averaging a team-high 24:14 of ice time per game. He has 48 goals and 129 points in 320 career games. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound rearguard is in the third season of a six-year contract that carries a $4.6 million cap hit.

As for the Bruins interest in Miller, it’s no secret that in addition to a top 4 pairing d-man like Chychrun, they have and remain in the market for a second-line center. Daily Faceoff NHL Insider Frank Seravalli recently reported that one of the pivots the Bruins are currently targeting on the NHL trade market is Vancouver Canucks center J.T. Miller.

Miller, who turns 29 in March, is in the fourth season of a five-year contract that carries a $5.2 million cap hit. He has 12 goals and 28 assists in 40 games this season for a team that new Canucks GM Patrik Allvin said is on the verge of change. Boston Hockey Now has linked the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks in NHL trade talks before as the twp teams did discuss trade scenarios that would’ve saw Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk got to Vancouver for former Canucks winger Jake Virtanen. DeBrusk has since requested a trade but those previous Bruins-Canucks trade talks took place when former Bruins Assistant GM Jim Benning was the Canucks GM.

I can’t see what the bruins would have to give up to aquire both those players I don’t think they have enough ammunition without giving up two firsts and that they cannot afford to do, maybe a first rounder in 2023 Debrusk and Zobril should do Chychrun, 2nd rounder Fabian Lysell Grezlyk for Jt

Nope. That will not get Miller. A late second is nothing and the players you list are not what the Canucks need. We have lots of spare parts already. The Rangers are likely getting Miller as they have two RHD, either of which would not be enough, that would be the starting point

i think the coyotes are just what the bruins need, short term long term. Chychrun, Crouse and Kessel to the bruins. Chychrun would boost the teams long term rebuild to a shortened one after Bergy leaves. chychrun vs Grez in playoffs….self explanatory.. would you rather have Crouse or DeBrusk heading into playoffs with skill and true physicality, remember St. Louis series. Crouse is better bet long term upside complimenting younger bruins like pasta, studs, etc. going forward. would you rather have Kessel, who has won a cup or two, still has skill and experience,,etc or steen all 5 ft 9inches… Read more »

Clearly the B’s cannot compete with the top tier teams – Canes, Panthers, Bolts etc. I’m predicting a first round exit regardless who we end up facing. Build for the future….we need to get bigger and tougher to play against. Don’t trade away young assets unless you are absolutely sure that cannot fulfill their potential. If you want to get Chychrun, then Debrusk, Grizz and can be the players that can be leveraged. If the Coyotes want a draft pick as well, then throw in a 3 rounder..

Lol. Start your rebuild. That will never get Chychrun. There are much better offers from a number of teams.

Boston has not got the chips to get Miller so eye him if you want but he is not going to Boston.

It doesn’t matter who the bruins get Miller or Chychrun or both , they way to old now and they given on their kids and goalies now such. They have to bring back Swayman
