BHN Daily: Boston Bruins’ Marchand With Hilarious Pregame Antics

Who doesn’t love a little pregame hijinks from Boston Bruins left wing Brad Marchand?

The Bruins agitator and perennial Hart Trophy candidate was cracking up his teammates with his hilarious routine just prior to puck drop in Monday night’s Boston Bruins game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

It didn’t exactly lead to a happy ending as the Bruins lost 3-2 in overtime, so it might not become a superstitious tradition like it might have had they come out with two points. But the shoulder bumping with big Charlie Coyle quickly escalates into Marchand doing the Nestea plunge to the ground in his skates certainly loosened up his teammates prior to an important game against a Flyers team chasing them in the East Division standings.

Between that and David Krejci taking pregame warm-ups over the weekend with a samurai-style man bun sans helmet on the ice, it’s pretty clear the veteran Bruins players are looking for ways to bust up the COVID Protocol monotony right now.

Sometimes it’s just about breaking the tension, isn’t it folks?

Now on to the rest of the BHN Puck Links:

*The Bruins are kicking the tires on Kyle Palmieri and Dmitry Kulikov in trade talks with the New Jersey Devils that could fill a couple of needs for the Black and Gold. (Boston Hockey Now)

*Speaking of the B’s, highly touted rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman will be getting the starting nod on Tuesday night in an important game against the Flyers. My partner-in-crime Jimmy Murphy has all the details. (Boston Hockey Now)

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) George Richards breaks down what the Florida Panthers are looking for at the trade deadline as they sit in a prime playoff spot. (Florida Hockey Now)

*FOH Greg Wyshynski has his poll of NHL folks for the top-10 centers, and it’s a good thing Patrice Bergeron made the cut. Otherwise, there would have been hell to pay for Wysh. (ESPN.com)

*Are the San Jose Sharks…good? How is that for a big league tease? (San Jose Hockey Now)

*FOH Elliotte Friedman has his 31 Thoughts and says that Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams is a guy to watch at the trade deadline. (Sportsnet)

*For something completely different: What do you think of the Patriot’s Day Weekend Red Sox alternate uniforms? I appreciate the Boston Strong colors and sentiment behind it, but any Red Sox uniform that isn’t red, blue, white and gray just feels weird to me.
