BOSTON — The Boston Bruins didn’t get a ton of offense on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden, but Morgan Geekie supplied all they needed by scoring two goals in a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

With the Bruins trailing 1-0 after two periods, Geekie drew them even by blasting a one-timer past Avalanche goalie Scott Wedgewood off a feed from David Pastrnak 25 seconds into the third. A little more than five minutes later, Geekie struck again, scoring his 15th goal of the season and fourth in the last three games to give Boston the lead.

Pastrnak hit an empty net with 2.3 seconds left to play for his 24th goal of the season.

Prior to Geekie getting the Bruins on the board, the Avalanche had outshot them by a margin of 19-8. The only reason the score had remained so close was because Boston kept Colorado and its high-powered offense out of high-danger scoring areas.

The Avalanche rarely fired a shot toward Jeremy Swayman that challenged him in net, as he stopped 26 of the 27 that came his way.

The only one that beat him came off the stick of Artturi Lehkonen, who perfectly placed a wrist shot just inside the far post and out of the reach of Swayman’s blocker to make it 1-0 Colorado at 1:30 of the second period.

With the win, the Bruins improved their record to 25-20-6. They’ll travel to face the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.
