Boston Bruins
Bruins at Devils Preview: Lines, Notes, and How to Watch

A busy week for the Boston Bruins (23-19-6) continues on Wednesday night as they meet the New Jersey Devils (26-17-6) for the first time this season tonight at Prudential Center. Here’s what you need to know before puck drop.
Max Jones Getting Back To Business:
An injury during training camp completely derailed the start of the season for Max Jones and eventually led to him being demoted after appearing in only four games. Back with the Bruins for the first time since early November, Jones is getting back to business.
Projected Bruins Lines:
Geekie – Zacha – Pastrnak
Marchand – Poitras – Coyle
Wahlstrom – E. Lindholm – Lettieri
Jones – Beecher – Brazeau
Zadorov – Peeke
Wotherspoon – Carlo
Lohrei – Oesterle
Swayman
Korpisalo
Last Time Out:
Charlie Coyle scored two goals in the third period to lead the Bruins past the San Jose Sharks in a comeback effort Monday afternoon at TD Garden by the final of 6-3.
Boston had trouble maintaining momentum all game and trailed by a goal entering the third. After Coyle knotted the score with his first goal, a strong stand by the penalty kill helped keep the Bruins in the game, while Joonas Korpisalo stopped 25 of the 28 shots that came his way while making his first start in goal in over two weeks.
Vinni Lettieri scored his second goal in as many games, and David Pastrnak continued his recent hot streak by scoring his team-leading 22nd goal of the season. Brad Marchand and Elias Lindholm both added empty-net goals at the end of the game, helping the Bruins make up for their disastrous performance while playing against an extra attacker in their previous game.
The Opponent:
The New Jersey Devils have a ton of skill on paper, but that hasn’t helped them much lately.
New Jersey is 0-2-2 in its last four games, scoring a combined six goals between them. Overall, the month of January has had no sympathy for the Devils, as they’ve won just one game in regulation since the start of the New Year.
Still, the Devils possess a potent lineup that cannot be taken lightly.
Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt are a lethal combination, and both rank among the top 15 scorers across the NHL, while Nico Hischier leads New Jersey with 22 goals. The Devils average 3.02 goals per game (15th) and are operating at a 28.2 percent clip on the power play (3rd). They are, however, without Ondrej Palat, who will miss tonight’s game due to illness.
Jacob Markstrom is expected to start in net for New Jersey. With a record of 21-9-5, he has a 2.20 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in 35 starts this season.
