Good morning, my name is Andrew Fantucchio. It’s Friday, January 3, and here are the top stories surrounding the Boston Bruins and from across the NHL today.

Bruins News:

Out of Confidence, Out of Ideas: The Bruins have struggled on the power play all year. It’s severely lowered their confidence, and now the Bruins are out of ideas of how to fix it.

Stunned By Rangers: Coming off a frustrating loss on New Year’s Eve, the Bruins arrived in Manhattan on Thursday for a matchup with the struggling New York Rangers. However, it was the Bruins who struggled at Madison Square Garden, as they hit the back of the net just once in a 2-1 loss.

Gabriel Landeskog Makes Step Toward Return:

Gabriel Landeskog has been out of action for more than two seasons at this point.

There is still no timetable for when he will return. However, his appearance at morning skate with the Colorado Avalanche yesterday was a significant step forward.

Yesterday’s Scoreboard:

Rangers: 2, Bruins: 1

Hurricanes: 3, Panthers: 1

Maple Leafs: 2, Islanders: 1

Sharks: 2, Lightning: 1

Red Wings: 5, Blue Jackets: 4

Stars: 4, Senators: 2

Avalanche: 6, Sabres: 5 (OT)

Wild: 4, Capitals: 3 (SO)

Golden Knights: 5, Flyers: 2

Ducks: 4, Jets: 3 (OT)

Utah: 5, Flames: 3

Canucks: 4, Kraken: 3 (SO)

Today’s Schedule:

All Times EST

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Florida Panthers, 7 p.m.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Chicago Blackhawks, 8 p.m.

Ottawa Senators vs. St. Louis Blues, 8 p.m.

Anaheim Ducks v. Edmonton Oilers, 9 p.m.

Nashville Predators vs. Vancouver Canucks, 10 p.m.

More From National Hockey Now:

Montreal: The Montreal Canadiens have been a dominant team since they acquired defenseman Alexandre Carrier in a trade with the Nashville Predators.

Detroit: A rumored Detroit Red Wings trade now appears to be unlikely to come to fruition.

New York: For so long, the New York Islanders have sat stagnantly without any sort of direction. They’re now heading in the wrong one.

New Jersey: James Nichols has three New Year’s Resolutions for the New Jersey Devils.

When are they going axe Sweeney he has ruined this team for years with all the draft picks he’s given away, and expensive no trade contracts he’s handed out. The team needs speed and scoring something they don’t have. Sweeney and Neely should be gone at end of the year.
