Bruins Re-Sign Another Restricted Free Agent To New Contract
The Boston Bruins have re-signed one of their remaining restricted free agents.
No, not that one.
Marc McLaughlin will be back with the Bruins organization for the upcoming season after the forward inked a one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday afternoon that will pay him $775,000 at the NHL level.

McLaughlin, 24, appeared in just one game for the Bruins last season but did score a goal in the team’s lone goal in its 6-1 loss to the New York Islanders on March 2. He spent the majority of last season with Boston’s AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, scoring 14 points in 68 games with eight goals and six assists.
Since being originally signed by the Bruins as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College in 2022, the North Billerica native McLaughlin has appeared in 14 NHL games, scoring four goals, mostly serving as a checking forward on the fourth line.
McLaughlin is the third restricted free agent the Boston has re-signed in the last few days. On Friday, the team agreed with defensemen Michael Callahan and Alec Regula on deals identical to McLaughlin’s.
Having signed McLaughlin, the lone restricted free agent that the Bruins have left to sign is goalie Jeremey Swayman.
Despite negotiations between the team and Swayman’s camp being quiet for some time now, the Bruins have reiterated on several occasions that finding a deal is among their top priorities. By all accounts, the relationship between the Bruins and their star goaltender is still positive, as Swayman was spotted checking out the team’s prospect development camp at Warrior Ice Arena earlier this summer.
According to Puckpedia, the Bruins have a projected $8.64 million left in available cap space, which they are expected to use most, if not all, of to reach a long-term extension with Swayman, who is now the last item of business for them to address this offseason.
