Bruins Wrap: Win Streak Over; DeBrusk, Hertl, NHL Trade Rumors

NHL Trade

On the same night that Jake DeBrusk’s agent made it clear his client is still on the NHL trade market, the Boston Bruins had their five-game win streak win snapped in a 4-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Is San Jose Sharks center Tomas Hertl on the NHL trade block or not?

The NHL and the hockey world continued to support Ukraine as they fight to save their country against the Russian invasion.

That and more in the BHN Bruins Wrap:

Boston Bruins

Early Tuesday evening, TSN Insider Pierre LeBrun reported that not only does Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk still want to be traded but the Bruins are willing to sign him to an extension to increase his value on the NHL Trade market in an effort to accelerate the process.

A few hours after that, the Boston Bruins were a hot mess in a 4-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks that snapped their winning streak at five games.

While the Bruins will very likely move DeBrusk before the March 21 NHL Trade Deadline, the feel here is, it’s highly unlikely they move rookie goalie Jeremy Swayman no matter what the return.

National Hockey Now

Pittsburgh: Hingham, MA native and former Boston College star Brian Boyle has been the perfect fit for a resurgent Pittsburgh Penguins team this season.

Detroit: While numerous Detroit Red Wings players continue to be bantered around in NHL trade rumors, the Wings continued to cling onto their slim playoff hopes with a dramatic 4-3 overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday.

Colorado: Cool story by Kelsey Hammond on Jack Johnson’s best friend being there for his 1,000th game Tuesday and a 5-3 win for the Colorado Avalanche over the New York Islanders.

San Jose: So is San Jose Sharks center Tomas Hertl on the NHL trade market or not?

Canada Hockey Now

Montreal: The Montreal Canadiens also saw their win streak snapped at five games in an 8-4 loss to the Winnipeg Jets but Habs winger Josh Anderson continued to silence the NHL trade rumors surrounding him.

Vancouver: Our man in VAN, Rob Simpson, delved deeper into the NHL trade rumors surrounding the Vancouver Canucks. What’s the scoop on J.T. Miller?

Friend of BHN, Spector, has more on the Vancouver Canucks trade rumors.

How amazing was this? Hoosli, a Ukrainian male chorus, performed the national anthem prior to puck drop between the Jets and Canadiens in Winnipeg.

Finally, here’s your Irish track of the day. In honor of all the Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war in their homeland and looking for shelter, here’s a Pogues favorite of mine:

“Thousands are sailing
Across the western ocean
To a land of opportunity
That some of them will never see
Fortune prevailing
Across the western ocean
Their bellies full
Their spirits free
They’ll break the chains of poverty
And they’ll dance”
