Unfortunately I believe there is only one correct answer to the DeBrusk question and it is….no. They aren’t showcasing him. The primary motivation is a last-ditch effort to get him to produce enough to actually warrant any trade AT ALL. Teams are much smarter than to give up legitimate assets for a player who has not produced in two years and is owed a qualifying offer of 4.4M. So unfortunately Sweeney is not holding out for the right trade… he’s just trying to avoid trading Debrusk for a bag of used pucks, which I presume is probably the best offer… Read more »
