Bruins Wrap: MacKinnon Skates Free, More Chara, NHL Trade Rumors

NHL Trade

As the clock ticks down to the March 21 NHL trade deadline, Boston Bruins social media debates the idea of the team reacquiring former Bruins captain Zdeno Chara.

While that seems like a fantasy, who are some real contenders to acquire the defenseman who has now played more NHL games than any other NHL d-man?

Could the Toronto Maple Leafs solve their blue line issues and acquire a center in the same trade?

That and more in the latest Bruins Wrap:

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins didn’t shake the NHL trade market by any means Tuesday but they did acquire a solid defensive prospect in Franklin, MA native, and Providence College defenseman Michael Callahan.

Did Nathan MacKinnon get away with abuse of an official? Sure seems that way, and one has to wonder if that was Brad Marchand taking a two-hand swing with his stick at a linesman what the punishment would’ve been?

Bruins social media is abuzz and seemingly split down the middle when it comes to the team re-acquiring their former captain Zdeno Chara on the NHL trade market.

No to Chara too old too slow

William Mahoney

Chara is very valuable to be in the Bruins locker room especially with the young players plus being on the ice with his big body can add lots to the defensive effort. Why not add him now?

Chuck Rose

I’d take Chara as long as it’s for “future considerations” AKA “a bag of pucks”.
