Bruins Wrap: Are Bruins In Trouble? More NHL Trade Rumors

Boston Bruins

Do the Boston Bruins need to make a big change via the NHL trade market or are they just suffering the typical setbacks every team does during the regular season?

The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly eyeing more goaltending help on the NHL trade market.

That and more in the latest Bruins Wrap:

Boston Bruins

The Bruins laid an egg in their first game at UBS Arena, as they basically stopped playing after the first period and ended up losing 4-1 to the New York Islanders

Are the Boston Bruins in trouble or was that loss to the Isles just the ebb and flow of an injury and COVID-riddled season, as well as Brad Marchand’s recent buffoonery?

Per Pierre LeBrun of TSN, the Bruins are one of a plethora of NHL teams interested in acquiring Montreal Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot before the NHL Trade Deadline.

NYI: Our man on the Island, Stefen Rosner, gives the Islanders perspective from Thursday and focuses on the reemergence of former Boston University forward Kieffer Bellows. There have been whispers that the Isles have been shopping Bellows on the NHL trade market but his performance against the Bruins may make them reconsider.

Philly: New Philadelphia Flyers special assistant to the general manager Daniel Briere is already busy scouting as the Flyers get set to become major players on the NHL trade market.

Vegas: The Vegas Golden Knights won’t be having a reunion with Marc-Andre Fleury before the NHL trade deadline, but have they now set their eyes on Rangers goalie Alexander Georgiev?

Montreal: The Montreal Canadiens hired former Boston Bruins director of amateur scouting Nick Bobrov as co-director of amateur scouting and Vincent Lecavalier as special advisor to hockey operations.

Calgary: Is Calgary Flames head coach Darryl Sutter a Jack Adams favorite?

According to TSN Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Vancouver Canucks may be pulling center J.T. Miller off the NHL Trade market until at least the offseason, and may even sign him to an extension.

IIHF president Luc Tardif is confident NHLers will be at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Bruins according to the media are interested in practically every player in the nhl, nothing will ever happen as long as Sweeney is GM

yup, your right, when you endorse players like achan and grez as the future blueline, and who are often injured, and wonder why you cant win, theres a problem. GM, scouts and maybe cassidy need to go and start to rebuild.

100% …At first it was just Sweeney, and moondoggie up in the front office but, now Cassidy has lost the players attention he needs to go as well. Let me put it this way you’re going trust Sweeney in a rebuild?!? Sweeney’s ruined this club with horrible draft picks and free agent signings.

I’m a Bruins fan have been since the Orr days but i have to say it the way i see it and that is that this team is a middle of the road team not last place but even further from winning a cup. Bruins media and many fans have over rated this team for a few years, and with Sweeney and Neely running the show and the terrible drafting (2015) and since then more bad moves it’s going to get worse before it gets better. 1 or 2 players won’t help multiplayer trade is needed. 48 to small, 25… Read more »

The Bruins will make the playoffs but will be out no later than the second round. Sweeney doesn’t have the balls to make a big trade. Foligno and Clifton are useless, Pastrnak turns the puck over more than any I player I’ve seen in my more than 50 years of watching and playing hockey. Instead of putting his picture on a box of pasta, he should have signed a deal with a bakery and put his picture on a box of turnovers.

Wow Fred, you are more optimistic than I am even thinking about the possibility of getting past the first round.

Bruce has lost the room. BB have a talent shortage. Good thing Sweeney is in his final contract year. Cam needs to go, too. Big Zee for Prez!
