NHL Trade

Do the NHL trade rumors linking goalie Marc-Andre Fleury to the Boston Bruins really make sense after rookie Jeremy Swayman once again showed he can hang in the NHL Saturday?

Credit to the NHL for suspending Ottawa Senators winger Austin Watson for two games but shouldn’t headshots get more than lovetaps to a heavily protected goalie like the one Brad Marchand gave Tristan Jarry?

How will the Vegas Golden Knights accommodate Jack Eichel onto their roster and stay under the salary cap? Will they use the NHL trade market or will they use LTIR?

Boston Bruins

Once again, the Boston Bruins bounced back from a bad loss with a resounding 2-0 win over the Ottawa Senators Saturday. Jeremy Swayman made 30 saves for his second shutout of the season and showed he’s here to stay if the Bruins let him.

Ottawa Senators forward Austin Watson has been suspended two games for his headshot on Boston Bruins defenseman Jack Ahcan in the first period of the Bruins’ win Saturday.

Does Tuukka Rask belong in the hockey hall of fame? Does his No. 40 belong in the TD Garden rafters? Former Boston Bruins head coach and defenseman Mike Milbury doesn’t think so.

There’s been speculation on the NHL trade rumor wire linking goalie Marc-Andre Fleury to the Boston Bruins but many continue to link the two-time Stanley Cup Champion and reigning Vezina Trophy winner to the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers.

The Detroit Red Wings still believe they have a shot at catching the Bruins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Montreal Canadiens have dipped into NHL goalie lore and acquired Andrew ‘The Hamburglar’ Hammond on the NHL trade market.

Is Montreal Canadiens winger Tyler Toffoli a hot commodity on the NHL Trade Market?

From Amsterdam to Montreal to Charlottetown to Washington DC, it’s been a wild and valuable journey for Capitals forward Daniel Sprong

The injury bug is once again hitting the Philadelphia Flyers

Speaking of the injury bug, it’s bitten the Pittsburgh Penguins so badly this season that now, their assistant coach Tood Reirden will have knee surgery for a non-hockey injury.

On the flip side, the Florida Panthers are getting healthier and will get former Penguins winger Patrik Hornqvist back in the lineup soon.

The Colorado Avalanche never really missed a beat while he was out but forward Nathan MacKinnon is returning from the broken nose he suffered from a hit by Boston Bruins winger Taylor Hall two weeks ago.

NHL trade rumors are circling the Vegas Golden Knights as they figure out how to fit Jack Eichel into their lineup and stay under the salary cap.

So will San Jose Sharks center Tomas Hertl be available on the NHL trade market or not?

Calgary Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane is taking out his frustration of not being at the Olympics on Flames’ opponents.

Vancouver Canucks and former Boston College goalie Thatcher Demko was simply amazing in a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

NHL

As always, the boys on 32 Thoughts on Hockey Night In Canada touch on the latest NHL trade rumors, including an update on the trade status of Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot.

Hall of fame puck scribe, Larry Brooks, wonders what the heck the Montreal Canadiens are doing with their no experience-required approach to rebuilding the once-proud Original 6 franchise?

No Tuukka does not belong in the hall of fame I mean come on?! And I truly believe the bruins number one priority right now is for a GOOD goalie. Attention Marc Fleury. And the sleepwalker Sweeney. Swayman could, I mean could be the goalie of the future but right now they need I desperate help there, Ullmark isn’t it I kept saying throughout the year Forbort and Foligno were the worst additions I think the biggest mistake was signing a backup goalie( Linus) to a ridiculously huge contract. Please fire Sweeney take Lurch with you.

Bassman Bob

I think Fleury and Swayman could be an excellent tandem. Ullmark could be traded for good tough D or forward.

William Mahoney

What the heck is LTIR? Sweeney do something useful like get Jack Eichel and make a trade with anyone they want in turn.

Fred

The Bruins should trade for Fleury and then trade Ullmark and DeBrusk to Edmonton for a solid physical defenseman such as Darnell Nurse and and a forward.

“Credit to the NHL for suspending Ottawa Senators winger Austin Watson for two games but shouldn’t headshots get more than lovetaps to a heavily protected goalie like the one Brad Marchand gave Tristan Jarry?” 20 years of experience, and this is what you have learned? I agree Watson had to be suspended, but he has no relevant history, he was suspended for an off the ice issue which was disgusting. The hit was “well after” Ahcan moved the puck, was forceful to head, 2-3 games is the appropriate suspension. If Marchand did this as his 1st suspension, he would get… Read more »

After reading this, I would like to give you some love taps. You know, an unsuspecting punch to the head and then a stick to the face.
