Boston Bruins Send Blue Collar Preseason Lineup To Philly

PHILADELPHIA – The Boston Bruins have released their traveling lineup for tonight’s final road tune-up in Philadelphia and it’s not exactly a stacked lineup of NHL regulars.

Rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman will get the game between the pipes for the Black and Gold as he finished out a strong preseason, but the bulk of the rest of the regulars are blue collar fourth liners and bottom pair defenseman candidates along with young 22-year-old center prospect Jack Studnicka. Trent Frederic, Curtis Lazar, Chris Wagner, Connor Clifton, John Moore and Jakub Zboril are the only regulars from last season in the lineup with young bubble players like Studnicka, Brady Lyle, Jack Ahcan, Jesper Froden and Jakub Lauko also scheduled to play.

Interesting, the anticipated third line of Jake DeBrusk, Erik Haula and Nick Foligno get a second straight exhibition game off with Wednesday’s home preseason finale expected to have pretty close to a full NHL lineup for the Black and Gold’s last dress rehearsal.

“We anticipate getting to our group and having our [opening night] lineup for Wednesday for the most part and [then] get down to those last tough [roster] decisions,” said Boston bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy. “For us it’s about penciling in our 7th and 8th defenseman, our 13th forward and who is going to be on our fourth line.”

Lauko had missed the last couple of games with a lower body injury suffered in the opening exhibition game against the Washington Capitals but returns on Monday night vs. the Flyers to perhaps an exclamation point on his preseason as well.

Here is the entire game group set to travel to Philly for tonight’s game against the Flyers, though the Boston Herald’s Steve Conroy reports back in Boston that Lyle is skating early with the non-game group at Warrior Ice Arena.

Without further ado, here’s the Boston Bruins group headed to Philly:

Forwards: Samuel Asselin, Anton Blidh, Trent Frederic, Jesper Froden, Curtis Hall, Cam Hughes, Joona Koppanen, Karson Kuhlman, Jakub Lauko, Curtis Lazar, Oskar Steen, Jack Studnicka and Chris Wagner

Defenseman: Jack Ahcan, Connor Clifton, Tyler Lewington, Brady Lyle, John Moore, Nick Wolff and Jakub Zboril

Goaltenders: Troy Grosenick, Kyle Keyser and Jeremy Swayman
