BHN Daily: NESN’s Edwards With Epic Game 3 Call In Bruins 2 OT Win

Published

on

Everybody loves double-overtime playoff winning goals except for the team that they were scored against, especially Boston Bruins fans. So NESN play-by-play man Jack Edwards was in fine form while calling Craig Smith’s double-OT game-winner in Wednesday night’s Game 3 against the Washington Capitals while finishing with an Elvis-like flourish pointing at the camera inside the booth.

You really need to see it to experience the whole thing with Edwards jubilantly calling Ilya Samsonov and Justin Schultz “napping” when they gave up the puck to Smith for the eventual wraparound goal.

People love or hate Edwards for his colorful-style and his very Bruins-friendly rants, but everybody needs to give credit where it’s due that he can muster up some great Stanley Cup playoff goal calls when the moment arrives.

Now on to the BHN Puck Links:

*Alex Ovechkin was spitting nails in Russian on the Washington Capitals bench last night and pretty clearly berating Samsonov and Schultz for their big error. That’s a tough one to come back from. (Boston Hockey Now)

*Nathan MacKinnon is selling his swanky penthouse in Denver. FOH (Friend of Haggs) Adrian Dater is all over this one. (Colorado Hockey Now)

*It looks like veteran Florida Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle might be a scratch for Game 3 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The good news is that it won’t hurt his NHL ironman streak because it’s a playoff game. (Florida Hockey Now)

*It seems that some of the reporters covering the Vancouver Canucks don’t think bringing the Sedin Twins in to run the show is a good idea. (The Athletic)

*I love the details behind the conversations between Chris Wagner and Tom Wilson in Game 3 where they went nose-to-nose at one point.

*Nazem Kadri is once again doing stupid things during the playoffs that get guys hurt and get him suspended. The St. Louis Blues want him gone after this headshot. (ESPN.com)

*For something completely different: It’s really interesting to hear Elizabeth Olsen talk about her original contract with Marvel Studios, which has been extended multiple times. (The Direct)
