Bruins’ Bergeron Confronts Wilson After Nasty Hit On Carlo |BHN+

BOSTON – Unsurprisingly Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron wasn’t too forthcoming with the details after the game, but it spoke volumes when he skated over to the Capitals players stretching after the first intermission and had a few words for Caps winger Tom Wilson. The Washington power forward knocked Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo out of the game and sent him to the hospital with a reckless, dirty hit to the head in the first period of Friday night’s 5-1 win over the Capitals at TD Garden.

It remains to be seen if the NHL Department of Player Safety decided to sanction the oft-suspended Wilson, but the vicious, injurious hit somehow wasn’t deemed a penalty on the ice by the referees.

When the players returned to the ice a few minutes ahead of the second period, Wilson was stretching down at the far end of the ice. Bergeron skated over to Wilson, had a few pointed words for him as Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin watched it all go down without intervening and then Bergeron skated away with his point made.
