BHN Puck Links: Pandemic Reality Of NHL Trade Market And Free Agency

The Boston Bruins are having a less than satisfactory offseason but they’re not the only ones.

The NHL Free Agent and NHL Trade Market are to be blunt: Constipated.

In the latest BHN Puck Links, we look at how the Bruins are being affected as well as the entire league, leaving quality players still in their prime unemployed and sadly, potentially forcing veterans that would’ve had no problem getting a shot to help a team, phased out.

Being GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins for a day; more ‘Doc’ Emerick memories, Bill Zito hitting the ground running in Florida, and more!

Bruins Can’t Do Much In NHL Trade or Free Agent Markets

My colleague Joe Haggerty looks at the harsh reality of a flattened salary cap and the COVID world hitting the Bruins and I examine its effects on the entire NHL.

Are The Bruins About To Be Mediocre?

Dom Luszczyszyn of The Athletic doesn’t think the Boston Bruins are headed in the right direction.

With 20 years of experience (SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, ESPNBoston, NESN,, etc.) covering the Bruins, the NHL, NCAA and junior hockey and more, Jimmy Murphy’s hockey black book is full of Hall of Famers, current players, coaches, management, scouts and a wide array of hockey media personalities that have lived in and around this great game. For 17 of his 20 years as a hockey and sports reporter, Murph covered the Bruins on essentially a daily basis covering their victorious 2011 Stanley Cup run and their 2013 run to the Final as well. Murphy has hosted national and local radio shows and podcasts and also has experience in TV as well.

I respectfully disagree with you.
Savvy GM’s find ways to make deals to improve their teams.
The reality is that Don Sweeney is incompetent.
Outside of a few transactions, the greater majority of his trades/FA signings/ Drafts, have been a disaster .
IMO cannot be trusted with a rebuild of this OLD team.
