Providence Bruins Sign Three To Contracts

The Providence Bruins have begun to form their roster for the 2020-21 AHL season. On Thursday, the P-Bruins announced three signings. The club inked defenseman Brady Lyle and forward Alex Olivier-Voyer to two-year AHL contracts. They also re-signed defenseman Joel Messner to a one-year deal.

Messner, 26, collected 37 points (8 g, 29 a) in 59 ECHL games with the Atlanta Gladiators. He also registered 43 penalty minutes and a +3 rating with the Gladiators in 2019-20. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound blueliner appeared in 32 AHL games with the Providence Bruins in 2018-19, scoring seven points (1 g, 6 a).

Messner will enter his third season with the organization. He re-signed with the Bruins on July 8th, 2019.

Lyle scored 22 goals and added 43 assists for 65 points with a +25 rating in 62 OHL games with the Owen Sound Attack in 2019-20. An offensive defenseman, he spent the last five seasons in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack and North Bay Battalion. Lyle finished his junior career with 175 points (49 g, 126 a) in 295 games played.

Lastly, Olivier-Voyer scored 44 goals in 63 games for the QMJHL’s Sherbrooke Phoenix. He finished with a total 88 points (44 g, 44 a), 76 penalty minutes and a +55 rating on the season. Olivier-Voyer spent the last five seasons in the QMJHL with the Sherbrooke Phoenix and Rimouski Oceanic. His junior career ended after 289 games. He scored 203 points (95 g, 108 a) in all.

Lyle and Olivier-Voyer will turn pro for the 2020-21 season.
