Update: Rask Leaves Game After Suffering Concussion From Jab To Head From Bemstrom
The hits keep coming for the Boston Bruins! After having their three-game win streak snapped in an embarrassing fashion as they blew a 5-2 lead on the Philadelphia Flyers and losing 6-5 in the shootout, Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask was forced to leave their game in Columbus Tuesday night 1:12 into the game with what head coach Bruce Cassidy later confirmed to the media was a concussion. As the second period began, the Bruins then announced the Bruins goalie would not return and had an upper-body injury.Â

As he was skating through the front of the net and battling Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo, Blue Jackets forward Emil Bemstrom gave Rask a chicken wing jab to the head. Rask stayed on the ice and slowly got up after a minute or so. He was then attended to by Bruins trainer Donnie Del Negro and left the game presumably for the quiet room.Â
Jaro Halak, who was lit up for five goals on 39 shots in the loss at Philly Monday night, was thrown back into the fire.Â
No further update was given on Rask prior to the first period ending.
