Bruins Secondary Scoring; Trade Rumors And Is Babcock On Hot Seat?
In the latest edition of ‘The Hockey Craic’, a joint podcast between Boston Sports Desk and Boston Hockey Now hosted by Jimmy Murphy and Kevin Flanagan live from Legacy Club Boston, Murph and Kevin discuss a variety of Bruins and NHL topics.
Is the Boston Bruins secondary scoring good enough? Should they pursue Edmonton Oilers (playing in KHL right now) winger Jesse Puljujärvi or Islanders winger Josh Ho-Sang? Murph cites the Bruins’ previous interest in Puljujärvi and urges them to stay far away from Ho-Sang, whom he believes to be too self-centered and immature.
The Bruins beat the Maple Leafs 4-2 at TD Garden Tuesday night and before the game, many were wondering what head coach Mike Babcock was thinking starting starter Frederik Andersen Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets instead of Tuesday in Boston against a team he stonewalled with 44 saves in a 4-3 overtime win in Toronto Saturday.
The Leafs lost to the Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime and then lost to the Bruins. To Hutchinson’s credit, he made 35 saves against his former team, but prior to the game, Murph wondered if Mike Babcock should be on thin ice with the Leafs?
“Why isn’t he on that list?” Murph asked referring to the latest list giving odds on what NHL coach will be fired first.
Both Flanagan and Murph agreed that Babcock’s stubborness and tenuous relationship with general manager Kyle Dubas could do him in.
