Bruins 2019-20 Season Preview: Bruins Over Avalanche For Stanley Cup

Published

on

Throughout training camp, the Boston Bruins were asked countless times how they would move on from the heartbreaking Game 7 loss on home ice to the St. Louis Blues in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final and the constant mantra has been:

“We’re moving on”.

Are they really though?

“I don’t think you ever really move on from that pain until you win again,” Bruins winger Brad Marchand told Boston Hockey Now recently. “What you try to do really is not dwell on the past and let it be negative. That’s how you move on really, and actually, I think if you channel that sting from the loss into motivation to get back there, that’s moving on too.”

The Bruins enter this season expected to do just that as one of the Cup favorites, along with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs, out of the Eastern Conference. As Torey Krug told reporters at media day on Tuesday: “That may be, but we look at it as us being back down the mountain, just like everyone else and we need to climb it again.”

Well with the 2011 Stanley Cup core of captain Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Krejci and Tuukka Rask are still playing at an elite level; the bridge core of Torey Krug and now Charlie Coyle, and now the core of youth that consists of David Pastrnak, Jake DeBrusk, Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo is ready to bust out even more than last season. That’s why, yes the Bruins will have to climb the mountain again and dodge an Avalanche doing so, but this season they will reach the peak and that 2011 Cup core will hoist Lord Stanley for the second time in nine years!
