Bruins Cup Final Loss Worse than ’13 For Marchand

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has always said that he remembers the heartbreak of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final more than the jubilation of the 2011 Final. On Thursday at Warrior Ice Arena, Marchand admitted that last June’s defeat has replaced the heartbreak of 2013.

The Boston Bruins reached Game 7 of the Final, largely thanks to Marchand, only to lose on home ice to the St. Louis Blues. The Bruins never led in the game, and Boston sports fans voted it the most disappointing sports moment of the last year. Marchand is not alone in feeling the disappointment from that night. It has been a common theme all fall long from players returning to town.

“That was a tough one to go through and lose. You’re just so close and. . .such a great opportunity.” Marchand also stressed the fact that it is a new year and a new opportunity as he and his teammates try to flip the switch and turn to the new season.

Hear Marchand’s entire scrum from Thursday afternoon, where Boston Hockey Now’s Jimmy Murphy was front and center.
