BHN Daily Links: Bruins New Third Jersey, Kevin Shattenkirk To Bolts

The first full week off August started off with a bang on Sunday afternoon. The Tampa Bay Lightning, the NHL’s best team in the regular season by a wide margin, got even better. The club signed free agent D Kevin Shattenkirk, bought out by the Rangers last week, to a cheap one-year contract. Outside of that, the player movement has slowed to a snail’s pace around the league. What has picked up, however, is third jersey leaks. More on all of that in a moment. Here are the top stories from around the NHL on Monday, August 6th.

Have the new Boston Bruins third jerseys leaked? It certainly appears that a Reddit user has leaked the first photos of Boston’s newest uniform, a black version of the club’s Winter Classic jersey from a season ago. Although the uniform has yet to be confirmed by the club, it appears to be legit. (Boston Hockey Now)

The Tampa Bay Lightning heavily pursued Kevin Shattenkirk in the lead up to the 2017 trade deadline. A few months later, they pushed hard to sign him as a free agent. The Lightning struck out on both occasions, but finally got their man on Sunday. The Lightning and Shattenkirk agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million deal yesterday. (Raw Charge)

After a strong push to end the 2017-18 season, many believed last year was the year for the Florida Panthers to return to the playoffs. They didn’t. After signing Sergei Bobrovsky and naming Joel Quenneville head coach, the pressure is on in Florida. In the words of Aleksander Barkov, there are no excuses now. (NHL.com)

RFA D Charlie McAvoy told BHN’s Jimmy Murphy that it “would be nice” to get a deal done. The defender was at Coppersmith’s Restaurant and Bar for an event Monday night. (Boston Hockey Now)
