A Boston Bruins team source confirmed to Boston Hockey Now early Friday evening, an earlier report by TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger Sunday that forward and unrestricted free agent to be Marcus Johansson will not be returning to the Bruins and will sign elsewhere once the free agent period begins at Noon ET Monday. The source said there was a “mutual understanding” between Johansson and the team that given the Bruins cap situation with their restricted free agents, they simply wouldn’t be able to match what Johansson will be offered on the open market.
