It was a travel day in the Stanley Cup Final as the scene shifts back to Boston for Game 5 on Thursday. There is big news out of Boston in regards to the captain, but more on that later. With two days off in between games, let’s take a look at the news that made headlines on Wednesday, June 5th.

The major news that came out of Game 4 is that captain Zdeno Chara left the game and has a broken jaw per sources close to Boston Hockey Now. Though his status for the rest of the series is unknown as Jimmy Murphy has the details right here.

After a report came out in the Fourth Period about Taylor Hall not wanting to sign an extension in New Jersey, both Taylor Hall’s agent and Devils General Manager Ray Shero both deny the report as contract talks are still ongoing and in the early stages. (NHL.com)

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was at an event on Tuesday sporting a brace on his knee but did not want to comment on his recovery. (TSN)

Could there be a reunion between the Ottawa Senators and Erik Karlsson, Dan Brennan of the Ottawa Sun thinks it may happen as he expects Karlsson to receive competitive offers from the Senators and Montreal.

Down in Florida, Joel Quenneville has finalized his coaching staff as he adds familiar faces in two former players Andrew Brunette, Derek MacKenzie along with longtime assistant Mike Kitchen. (Miami Herald)

It is unlikely there will be a reunion between Pavel Datsyuk and the Detroit Red Wings, as the forward signed a contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL. (Detroit Free Press)
