The Boston Bruins finally know their opponent for the Stanley Cup Final! The St. Louis Blues finished off the San Jose Sharks in six games in the Western Conference Final with a 5-1 win Tuesday night and will now face the Bruins in the Final starting Monday in Boston. Game 2 will also be in Boston Wednesday before the series shifts to St. Louis for Games 3 and 4 June 1 and 3.

The Bruins were 1-0-1 against the Blues in the regular season. Boston beat St. Louis 5-2 back on January 17 in Boston and then lost to the Blues in St. Louis, 2-1 in a shootout back on February 23. The biggest difference between the two games was the biggest difference in the amazing turnaround that saw the Blues go from last to best in the West and to the franchise’s first trip to the Final in 49 years: Jordan Binnington.

After Jake Allen got lit up for four goals on 26 shots in the 5-2 Bruins win, Binnington was between the pipes for the shootout win, making 31 saves and then stopping five of six shootout attempts. Tuukka Rask was the goalie in both games for the Bruins.

This series will see former Blues captain and current Bruins alternate captain, David Backes, compete for the Cup for the first time and against his former team.

Here’s the schedule for a series that very likely will once again come down to a goalie duel between Rask and the rookie sensation Binnington, who ironically spent time playing for the Providence Bruins on loan from the Blues during the 2017-18 season.
