Another team looking to get back into the playoff picture is the Dallas Stars. First the Dallas Stars traded for defenseman Ben Lovejoy from the New Jersey. The Stars were not finished as Dallas traded for forward Mats Zuccarello from the New York Rangers.

NHL Trade Alert: Dallas Trades For Zuccarello and Lovejoy

The conditional picks for Zuccarello to Dallas are as follows.

Currently, the Stars hold the first wild card position but they would like to solidly their position in the standings. Both players are depth moves for the Stars.

Right now the Stars only have one line that can produce. Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, and Alexander Radulov are one of the reasons why the Stars are in a position to make the playoffs. Adding Zuccarello will allow the Stars to balance out their lineup. Jim Montgomery now has the ability to split up Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn.

As far as adding Lovejoy, he is a player that brings experience to a team that needs it this time of year. Also, Lovejoy knows what it takes to win in the playoffs. Lovejoy was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins when they won the Stanley Cup in 2016.

While many believe Lovejoy is a defensive liability, he has proven that he can be a rock solid stay at home defenseman, something the Stars need. Lovejoy will allow players like John Klingberg and Miro Heiskanen to show off their offensively ability.

Both Lovejoy and Zuccarello will be in the lineup when the Stars take on Chicago on Sunday Afternoon.
