We’ve finally reached the All-Star break, with about 30 games left to play in the regular season for each of the NHL’s 31 member teams. Tonight, there will be no hockey and boy is that a scary thought! Tomorrow night we will have the NHL All-Star skills competition before the game itself on Saturday night in San Jose.

Here’s the latest from around the hockey world.

  • Big injury loss for the Ducks, who won’t have Ondrej Kase for the remainder of the regular season. Considering the Ducks are locked into a Wild Card race out west, this news could end the season completely for Kase. It’s a major loss for a Duck team struggling to score as it is.
  • Could the magic man return to the NHL? It’s not a lock by any means, but Pavel Datsyuk’s agent has floated the idea of his client leaving the KHL and returning to North America.
  • Buying at the 2019 Trade Deadline? ESPN has you covered with their Buyer’s guide to the deadline as we sit about a month away from the big day.
  • As always with All-Star weekend, the snubs will be talked about. NBC Sports looks at which snubs most deserved a trip to the event in Northern California this coming weekend.
