Good morning, hockey fans. We’re closing in on another important weekend in the NHL, as the race for the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs really begins to heat up. Teams are starting to cement their positioning as playoff squads, while others are starting to realize that the dream is dead this year.

We’re also closing in on the 2019 NHL All-Star Game and the revealing of the last man in for each of the divisional teams.

  • Seattle is going to get the NHL experience early and often. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman confirmed that the league has promised an All-Star Game to the city within the first seven years, and that there will likely be a draft held in the city before that. The League is bringing its marquee events to the Emerald City.
  • Speaking of All-Star Games, the NHL unveiled the jerseys for this month’s event yesterday. Let’s just say that they uniforms are….well they are unique.
  • For teams that made a coaching change over the summer, the decisions are paying off in a big way. Both the Calgary Flames and New York Islanders have seen huge spikes in performance, while Washington has kept the good times rolling. More from Sportsnet.ca.
  • The Colorado Avalanche haven’t been getting the results, but boy did they turn in a good effort in Calgary last night. The only problem? It wasn’t enough for the win as David Rittich stole the show for the Flames.
  • The Edmonton Oilers got blown out (again) Tuesday night, but it seems like they could still be buying at the deadline in an effort to push into the playoffs. Additions on the wing seem to be in the cards.
